Metal Sculptor

Working from my Wynwood Studio in Miami Since 2010

Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Sandra Garcia- Pardo has been involved in art since early years while she joined different artistic experiences in her country such as the School of Fine Arts, private art classes and Publishing Design at the university. After being granted a governmental scholarship, she moved to Argentina to finally materialize her dream getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at “Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón”, the most prestigious art school of Argentina located in the city of Buenos Aires. She creates art pieces with a highly critical mind always including the human being in different stages of life, and as an inevitable part of the society we live in. Her art is characterized for the simplicity and the duality of strong messages and the lightness of her sculptures made out of iron, generating a prolific production far from a repetitive theme. Garcia- Pardo moved to USA to continue enriching her artistic talent and have exhibited in different galleries all over the country and abroad.

Artist Statement

When I create I always intent to simplify figuration and magnify feelings which is always a challenge since I work with steel. I enjoy the benefits of industrial welding using sometimes raw steel, or sometimes I apply paints or patinas as well, the possibilities are numerous. My pieces are austere, but aesthetics is always a must. I expect my sculptures to act as a mirror where people can see projections of their own reality, generating an unforgettable moment for the observer right in front of my piece, for which I use parody and abstraction for cultural references and self-identification.
