Protector or Predator?

“PROTECTOR OR PREDATOR?”

Mix media  5’ x 6’ x 6’  2014

Our highly and continuous participation in various forms of life cannot be ignored. Consumption patterns established by governments should be induced to more ecological choices towards mitigating the destruction of our planet. We have the opportunity to choose: Are we protectors or are we predators? Spiders, on a Freudian level, embody woman, weaving the designs of life and fate. In this sculpture, a spider appears to be very close to eating its prey, a nest of unborn birds; but also the spider might want to protect the eggs and ensure the future life. The dual representation of this confrontation between hunter and prey is a parallel course of confrontation between human beings and the planet: we are destroying it and it is responding the same way. We cannot forget the generations to come, most are our own families. Ensuring the future life will be our legacy.
